Inaugurated a year and a half ago, Luxembourg City's largest park has established itself as a veritable green lung for local residents. With its 16.6 hectares and numerous facilities (playground, multi-sports fields, brasserie, artificial pond, etc.), it offers a relaxing and biodiversity-friendly setting for the city's southern districts.
Since its opening, we have planted around 600 trees, contributing to the beautification and ecological enrichment of the area.
Why is winter the perfect season for planting?
Contrary to popular belief, winter is actually one of the best seasons for planting new trees. During this period, plants are dormant, which reduces stress and encourages optimal rooting before the return of the warm weather.
We therefore took advantage of a few fine days in January to continue planting native trees.
The benefits of new plantings
Every tree added to the park plays a key role in the city's ecological balance. As well as providing shade in summer and defining axes through the park, they help improve air quality by capturing CO₂ and filtering fine particles. What's more, they provide a valuable habitat for many species of birds and insects.
Maintenance and long-term vision
The park's upkeep is not limited to planting: it's an ongoing effort to ensure a pleasant, sustainable environment for visitors. The aim is to make this space a place of nature and well-being, which will continue to grow and enrich itself over the years.
We look forward to seeing you in spring to enjoy this beautiful environment!
